Kevin Carr Named CEO of KTEC

Kevin Carr was named CEO of Kansas Technology Enterprise Corporation (KTEC) by the board of directors at the August 20 meeting in Topeka, Kan.
In June 2009, Kevin Carr was appointed Interim CEO.
Prior to his appointment as interim CEO, Carr served as chief operating officer. As COO, he led program development, managed agency-wide budget, and facilitated state universities’ interaction with small business.
Carr, who joined KTEC in 1987, has extensive experience in managing seed capital, business development, university grant programs and strategic planning initiatives. In addition, he has worked closely with economic development partners, business leaders and the state legislature to improve the state’s infrastructure for technology-based economic development.

West Des Moines, IA to install Rhythm Engineering's Smart Signals

Beginning later this year, Rhythm Engineering will be installing its adaptive traffic control system at nine intersections on Jordan Creek Parkway. The city hope to recieve a second grant to fund the installation of the smart signals at 13 more intersections on Mills Civic Parkway (also in West Des Moines).

Holdrege, NE Finds EcoFit Lighting Best for LED Streetlight Project

The city of Holdrege, Nebraska, plans to spend $343,029 on the first phase of an LED streetlight replacement project. City officials plan to replace approximately 470 existing streetlights with new LED fixtures. The city's long-term goal is to replacy all 1,152 streetlights it currently owns. The project is scheduled to begin 4th Quarter 2010. EcoFit Lighting was determined to be best suited to meet the performance and lighting requirements of the city.

Rhythm Engineering Selected Among Projects to Improve Transportation in NY

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) are jointly awarding funding of $1.6 million for seven cost-shared research projects that reduce congestion and petroleum fuel use and increase the efficiency of New York’s existing transportation systems. Rhythm Enginnering recieved $325,818 of the funding to install advanced traffic control signals on a series of nine contiguous arterial intersections on Long Island.
